[Event] JCosmeland Carnival 2012

Examinations are just round the corner (for A-Level & Uni students)! But it is still necessary to take a break once in a while away from the books! It is also rewarding after a day's worth of productive mugging ^^

Just a quick post on a Gyaru event by Shibuya Gals SG, jointly held with Watsons Singapore!

If you were one of the first 300 to RSVP, you were entitled to a free goodie bag!

Two masks & a pair of eyelashes :D

So many pretty clothes!!

The lovely backdrop to take photos with (:

There was also a free lucky draw at 5pm if you bought items from certain flea stores :D

If you went in your best Gyaru wear, you would have a chance at receiving a special Gyaru Make Tool Kit!

I had choir practice halfway through, so  I had to head off to ): But it really looked like a lot of fun! Here's a longer post by kelly: http://www.kellykonomi.com/2012/10/event-jcosmeland-carnival.html & by fellow J-addict MiraiL: http://www.mirai-l.com/2012/10/event-visit-to-jcosmeland-o.html

What is gyaru?

Gyaru fashion is a type of Japanese street fashion that originated in the 1970’s. Gyaru is a girly-glam style, breaking away from traditional standards of beauty by dwelling on the man-made (wigs, fake eyelashes, fake nails, etc.). Gyaru fashion is typically characterized by having heavily bleached or dyed hair (mostly shades from dark brown to blonde), excessively decorated nails, and dramatic makeup. The makeup typically consists of dark eyeliner and fake eyelashes. Clothing pieces for gyaru fashion differ depending on which gyaru style the individual chooses. [Taken from wikipedia.com]

Popular gyaru models include Tsubasa Masuwaka, Sakurina and Wakatsuki Chinatsu.

It is always important to know more about the style if you like it, or to impress your friends! You never know, after explaining what gyaru is more about (other than it's something you just like), your friends/you might just be more inclined to try it!

Amaya.
