The Sunday Currently, Volume Thirty Eight

My last Sunday update was in Jan of this year, wow. Between January to August of this year, I have traveled to two different countries (Japan & South Africa), sung in our annual concert and worked very hard. This half of the year was particularly trying at work, but I feel a sense of renewed motivation and discipline to improve myself in terms of knowledge and social skills at the workplace.

For my hobbies, other than singing, I am trying out bullet journaling! I used to own daily journals / planners, but my current lifestyle does not fully utilize a daily spread, so I have decided to use generic notebooks and draw out my own bullet journal. Creating photo layouts are really therapeutic and provide opportunities for reflection and appreciation. ɾ⚈▿⚈ɹ

PLANNING... the remaining time I have left for this year. I did not manage to complete all I set out for in the first half, but I did complete some goals such as getting a new wardrobe and study table.

WATCHING... Hataraku Saibou [Cells at Work] - it is educational and entertaining to watch at the same time!

CELEBRATING... the new Try Guys channel! They are the most entertaining channel I follow from the Buzzfeed team, and it is great that they have started on their own business while keeping their familiar branding.

DECIDING... to catalog the various washi tapes that I have accumulated over time, inspired by the planner video that Kaila [Rainbowholic] uploaded recently.

LOOKING... forward to taking photos of my Japan stationery haul back in April (yes, one of the uncompleted goals from the first half of the year).

TAKING... a break from piano lessons because they are getting expensive at higher grades. Also, I do not have much time to practise every week, so I am considering a private teacher who can teach me bi-weekly instead.

HOPING... to find another hairdresser I can trust! Somehow my go-to stylist made a sudden departure from the salon I frequented, so I am taking this chance to try out other salons that J-Passport support (discounts and promotions are often available!).

PLAYING... Maplestory M, the mobile version! Originally, I did not want to start playing it because of the time it would consume, but several of my friends were playing and needed numbers for the guild, so I started to play!

Skincare update! [July 18]

Half of 2018 is over! It's been a very busy month with travelling to South Africa for a choir competition. Super grateful for the outpouring of support for my singing hobby (check out Mothership's coverage of us!)

From top to right, clockwise:

♡   TT Hydra-Intense Black Charcoal Mask ♡

What it is: A black charcoal sheet mask containing moisturizing ingredients (Hyaluronic acid, patch water(??), hydrolyzed adansonia digitata extract) to hydrate skin

Price: Get 5 masks for S$8.90 over at Qoo10! That makes each mask less than $2, which is pretty good for single masks.

Key ingredients: There is no ingredients list in English ):

My thoughts: This mask was hydrating indeed, but not any better than my favourite Innisfree masks. Again, the fit was less than ideal.

♡  TT Delicate Hydrating Squalene Bemliese Mask ♡

What it is: Comes in a black sheet mask with botanically derived and skin-friendly squalene that helps replenish dry skin. Together with the HEDI Shea Butter, the mask boosts cell regeneration, revitalizes mature skin and delivers nutrition deep into the dermis, leaving the skin radiant and glowing.

Price: Get 5 masks for S$8.90 over at Qoo10! That makes each mask less than $2, which is pretty good for single masks.

Key ingredients: There is no ingredients list in English ):

My thoughts: My first mask after returning from dry and cold South Africa! My skin felt really smooth after using this mask. The fit of this mask was not very good though - it did not cover parts of my nose and forehead.

♡  Leaders Insolution Derma Soul Bright Mask ♡

What it is: A sheet mask that is rich in antioxidants from the various berry extracts, the fast-acting mask makes skin brighter, clearer, and naturally radiant.

Price: $2.90 at a clearance rack in Watsons

Key ingredients: Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Methylpropanediol, Alcohol, Glycerin, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract (2500ppm), Arginine

My thoughts: The sheet mask had an interesting coil design on it, but I am not sure how it would help with effectiveness? The mask feels cooling, and leaves behind a slightly sticky feeling, but I am not bothered by it. It definitely helped to moisturize and freshen up the skin!

[Amaya Travels] Tokyo, Japan Part 2!

I am back from South Africa doing a whole week of singing and dancing! I decided not to bring my camera along as the group mostly stayed indoors. Basically all my photos that I took are already up on Instagram x) I update more often there, so follow me over at Instagram or my FB page if you want more updates!

This post will be mostly about food I ate in Japan!

Mum wanted to eat okonomiyaki!

We didn't have to cook it ourselves; the waiter would come over to cook it for you!

Finally got to try out Hanamaru Udon!
Takoyaki from the Takoyaki museum in Odaiba!
The fruit in season was cherry tomatoes - look at those colours!

♡  Sekaido ♡

The must-go store for all stationery lovers! This time round, I got washi tapes and colour palettes for my stamp collection. Will be putting them up in a later post!

 ♡  Nezu ♡

Hantei (Nezu) is a really popular restaurant that serves kushiage, deep-fried skewers of meat and vegetables, in a unique three-storey wooden building. The building itself has been designated as an important cultural property. We were recommended this place by a family friend, who made the reservation for us!

We were also in time for the Azalea flower festival!

Signing off with a picture of pretty tulips from Odaiba~ The weather that day was excellent for photos!
