The Sunday Currently, Volume Nine

Today is the last day of the National Mourning for Singapore. Love him or hate him, without him and his capable team of old guards, we wouldn't have the Singapore we know today. I am grateful towards him and his team. Without his leadership, Singapore would not be what she is today. And I, would be a very different person. No matter what, I quite like the person I am now.

READING... several of the articles (see here and here) and interviews that are surfacing up, now that Mr Lee's passed away. It is rather interesting that sometimes, the most striking memories that come to mind are simple gestures and simple thoughts. A friend on mine had a thought which was rather insightful: "Why is it only in death that we seek to humanize the man?"

For the young, let me tell you the sky has turned brighter. There’s a glorious rainbow that beckons those with the spirit of adventure. And there are rich findings at the end of the rainbow. To the young and to the not-so-old, I say, look at that horizon, follow that rainbow, go ride it.”

LISTENING... to my choir's tribute to Mr Lee's Laying In State. There isn't an official recording available, so I leave you with The Long Day Closes from The King's Singers.

Thy book of toil is read; the long day closes.

THINKING... rather introspectively lately. One of the biggest political figures just passed away, and reading all this information, and debate (what is meaningful and not mindless banter), one can't help but think about how a single person's actions can have on a single person's life. For example, I simply happened to survive well in this education system, so I could get away with some matters that perhaps, a student with poorer performance wouldn't. I am happy (and somewhat lucky) that I can converse in more than one language.

HOPING... For the narratives and debate surrounding Mr Lee's achievements, attitudes and choices will be civil and well thought-out.

WEARING... (on a much lighter note) My Rainbowholic shirt from the ever-awesome Rainbowholic! The quality is great, and it's so comfy!
